ABN Registration
How to apply for an ABN, the information you will need and the support to maintain your ABN.
Where can I find my company TFN?
If you registered your company through EasyCompanies and opted for a Tax File Number (TFN) as part of your Australian Business Number (ABN) application, the ATO (Australian Taxation Office) would have emailed your TFN details to you within 2-3 business days after registration.
For security reasons, EasyCompanies does not store your TFN. If you have misplaced or did not receive the email, you have two options to retrieve it:
- Contact the ATO directly at 13 28 61 and request your company’s TFN.
- Find your TFN via the ATO Business Portal, which you can access using RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager).
Keeping your TFN secure is important, so be sure to store the information safely once received.
Setting Up and Using RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager)
To securely access government services—including the ATO Business Portal, where you can find your TFN—you need to set up RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager). RAM allows you to manage who can act on behalf of your business when dealing with the ATO and other government agencies.
Step 1: Link Your Business in RAM
Before using RAM, ensure your business is linked to your myGovID:
- Set up a myGovID – Download the myGovID app on your mobile device and verify your identity.
- Link your business to your myGovID – Go to the Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) website and link your business using your ABN. You must be listed as an associate of the business in the Australian Business Register (ABR).
Step 2: Access Your ATO Business Portal & Retrieve Your TFN
Once your business is linked to RAM, you can access the ATO Business Portal:
- Log in to RAM – Visit authorisationmanager.gov.au and sign in with your myGovID.
- Navigate to the ATO Business Portal – Once inside, you can find important company tax details, including your TFN.
Step 3: Authorise Others to Act on Behalf of Your Business
If you need to give access to an employee or another person:
- Log in to RAM and go to ‘Manage Authorisations’.
- Select ‘Add New User’ and enter their details (name and email associated with their myGovID).
- Set their access level and submit the request.
- The person will receive an email to accept the authorisation. Once accepted, they can act on behalf of your business.
By setting up RAM, you not only ensure secure access to your company’s ATO records and TFN but also streamline business interactions with government services.
