ABN Registration
How to apply for an ABN, the information you will need and the support to maintain your ABN.
If I already have an ABN can I just use that for my company?
No. A company must have its own, unique ABN. You cannot simply use the ABN registered to you personally, as an individual/sole trader or for a partnership operation.
Once your company has been registered you can apply for an ABN. Should you choose to obtain an ABN with EasyCompanies, we can expedite the process by linking your applications to avoid spending extra time duplicating the same information. You can also opt to apply for a TFN, GST and PAYG in the same application process.
If you have changed your existing business structure in creating a company, i.e. from sole trader to company, you will now trade under the company ABN and will not need the ABN linked to your sole trader business.
You can cancel the redundant ABN via the ABR website either online or by lodging a paper form.
